What is Restorative Justice?

Restorative Justice is a justice system that has been present around the globe within indigenous communities for eons. It is a practice that aims to heal harm within communities, to build community. There are many ways Restorative Justice can be implemented, and many different contexts within which it is already being employed. We’re going to be talking about how to implement Restorative Justice practices at camps and other youth-centered spaces. We’ll be looking at: how we view conflict, how oppression plays into our existing discipline systems, the circle system (our RJ tool of choice), and how to train staff in Restorative Justice. Come with an open mind, and a willingness to be vulnerable. This is going to be good.
